Tips For Adding Text To Images

With social media being an extremely visually driven platform. It is important to get your message across and grab the attention of your viewers quickly. One way to do this is by adding text to your images, whether they are illustrations or photographs. Adding text directly to an image will be far more impactful than just adding it in the text space offered in your social media.

You don't have to be a graphic designer to achieve eye catching images for your content marketing.

Here are some tips and examples we have created with images, fonts and vector letter art from
When using illustrations and photo's make sure they are legally sourced and that you have a proper license. The last thing you need is to be contacted by the lawyer of the creator of the image. Whether you are blogging, posting on social media or on your website, make sure you have the legal right to use the image.

When adding text to images, make sure the words are legible. A colour background offers a clean minimalist look. The background colour and the text colour should not complete against each other. Using dark coloured text against a light background or light coloured text on a dark background is easy on the eyes.

When you have sourced the image you want to work with, you can add text. Make sure the image feels balanced when the text is added and when possible test it out on different social media platforms and make sure the image can be read easily. Don't use too many words, giving your image a cluttered look. Keep the image visually balanced so that the viewer does not visually reject the image.

To create an even more impact on your viewers, you can add some vector letter art to your images in just a few simple steps. You don't need to be a graphic designer or have expensive software when our creators have done all the difficult work for you. You can browse thousands of vector letter art to find just the right one for your image: VECTOR LETTER ART
Simply download the .png file format of the image, making sure it has a transparent background and add it to the image you are working with.

Anyone with more advanced skills can download other available versions or depending on the program you are working with, other file formats are available. was the source for Coffee Vector Art Lettering

Myths of Copyright Infringement

"If it doesn't have a copyright notice, it's not copyrighted."

You should always assume that other people's works are copyrighted and may not be copied unless you know otherwise. Copyright will apply whether there is a copyright notice or not. Whether it is literary, musical or artistic there are penalties for copyright infringement.

"If I don't charge for it, it's not a violation."

False. It's still a violation if you give it away and there can still be damages awarded if you hurt the commercial value of the property. Except in specific circumstances permitted under fair dealing/fair use rules, any copying or publication without the consent of the copyright owner is an infringement, and you could face legal action.

"Crediting the content creator protects you from liability."

It's up to the owner to decide if they want the free promotion or not.

Similarly, how often have you seen this disclaimer?  “I do not own this content. All rights belong to the original creators respectively. No copyright intended.”

This is a great example of how many people misunderstand copyright law.

"If it's posted on-line, it's in the public domain."

False. Nothing modern and creative is in the public domain unless the owner explicitly puts it in the public domain.

"It’s hard to prove copyright infringement."

This is not the case, copyright law is principally civil not criminal law. Civil law requires a lower burden of proof, actually making it easier to prove infringement.

"Content on social media is in the public domain."

Unless you’ve been given permission by the original creator, it is very likely you are infringing on someone else’s copyright.

"“I've removed the copyrighted material” protects you from any consequences."

Simply removing their content cannot absolve you of liability for infringing on someone’s copyright.
What can you do to protect yourself?
Use stock content from sites like,, and or get explicit permission from the creator and don’t assume images online are fair use.

Chinese New Year - Year of the Rat

In 2020, Chinese New Year is celebrated on January 25th. The rat is the first in the 12-year-cycle of Chinese zodiac signs. People born in the year of rat are generally born with the zodiac rat characteristics. They are believed to be very industrious and thrifty, diligent and positive. Here are some great images to celebrate the Year of the Rat - Chinese New Year.

In Chinese culture, rats were seen as a sign of wealth and surplus. Because of their reproduction rate, married couples would pray to them for children.

Optimistic and energetic, people born in the Rat year are likeable by all. They are sensitive to other’s emotions but are stubborn with their opinion.

On the financial side, they like saving and can be stingy. However, their love for hoarding will sometimes cause them to waste money on unnecessary things.

There are multiple blessings and greetings for Chinese New Year as well as variations even for the most basic “Happy New Year!”

The simplest is, of course, Happy New Year: 新年快乐 (xīn nián kuài lè)

 Chinese New Year dates:

January 25, 2020 - Rat
February 12, 2021 - Ox
February 01, 2022 - Tiger
January 22, 2023 - Rabbit

Design Trends for 2020

Are you a graphic designer, small business owner, in marketing or web design? Here is a look at some of the styles that will be trending this year. 2020 will feature brighter and bolder colors , animated videos and natural looking stock photo's.

Genuine Photos

When using stock photography for your social media content and marketing, you need to source authentic, natural looking images.

Bulky large lettering styles are already flooding the world of graphic design. We see them in logos, on posters, on web designs, and even on package design

Choose from thousands of already designed alphabet sets

Shiny Metals

Our love for shiny things has never really gone away. Use a metallic design to give your designs some sparkle and convey a feeling of luxury, class and good taste.

Designing made easy. Once you’ve picked the base color, choose different shades based around it. You won't have to worry about colors clashing or if someone else is already using your color choice.

Line Art

The line art itself is a simplified illustration style. It is elegant, simple, minimalistic, and clean.

Line art also involves the use of line elements, and they're especially appealing when the lines form unexpected paths and shapes.

Commonly applied to website design and packaging design, a sense of vintage is expected to become one of the biggest graphic design trends this year.

Abstract, Texture and Geometric

Embrace abstract designs, quirky shapes, and unique texture appearances to help you stand out from the pack.

Animated Videos

Animated videos, as well as digital illustrations, have become one of the most versatile mediums for sales presentation and marketing today. In 2020, the trend of animation videos will find its manifestations in almost all forms of online business presence possible, including the company’s profiles on social media, animated emails sent to customers, websites, and mobile apps.

Animation Factory has animated clipart, video backgrounds and templates to help to help with all of your projects.
